The alignment of the drain cover could trap wheels where the shared path joins the road. The white lines seen in the photo are the start of the advisory cycle lane.
It wouldn't be hard to put in a level cycleway to the left, avoiding the steps on the route from Whitstable to the town centre.
I always thought that you were allowed to cycle along all of the path beside this stretch of road, the A2990 Old Thanet Way between Herne Bay and Whitstable. Signage is patchy on the sections that you are definitely allowed to cycle on on. … [more]
Sign says that cyclists should dismount, I always thought you were allowed to cycle along this path between Chestfield and Herne Bay. The path itself is practically derelict, I am not sure it has ever been re-surfaced.
Shared use path from the Long Reach Roundabout to the Tesco Roundabout in Whitstable, Kent. Poor signage means that many cyclists don't realise they are allowed to cycle along the path.
